Mod Melons Quilt



Learn how to sew curves while making a fast and fun melon themed quilt. This quilt finishes at 56”x65”, making it the perfect summer picnic quilt! You will learn how to use a paper template to cut curves, and how to sew curves without using a ton of pins.

5 fat quarters for the melons (or 1 1/2 yards total) 5 fat quarters for the rinds (or 1 1/2 yards total) {OPTIONAL} large scrap or fat quarter of dark fabric for seeds 3 1/2 yards background 1/2 yard binding 4 yards backing Thread Sewing machine w/cord, foot pedal and 1/4? presser foot Sharp fabric scissors Mechanical pencil or fabric marking pen Pins Thread snips Seam ripper Rotary cutter Acrylic ruler The Cotton Farm will provide extra rotary cutters, rulers, irons and ironing boards for your use. We also have extra supplies to purchase at a 10% discount for our registered students.

Kristi McDonough is one of the owners of The Cotton Farm. She went to school for fashion design and has sewn everything from wedding dresses to couch covers. Her true sewing love is quilting, and it is there that her expertise really shines. She has been a blogger, pattern designer, and author in the quilting industry for the last 12 years. She loves to teach and is known for her unexpected use of fabrics and color.
